Silence can be golden

1 minute read

I have been a little quiet of late. "Why is this Gleeko?" I sense that you are asking me in an internal dialogue that only you can hear but somehow I can 'sense' from near and far much like Superman's ability to hear cries for help from every corner of the world (though remarkably and somewhat suspiciously, these cries almost always come from Metropolis and Lois Lane).

Well you see, I have always been told that unless there is something that needs to be said, shut the hell up. My goodness! Who would say such a thing? No one that I know thankfully, as I just made that up! But, truth be told, there are people out there that could use a good dose of shooshing wouldn't you agree?

We are all so consumed with updating the cosmos about what we are doing every moment of every day; so wholly engrossed in the nihilistic webs we create that we forget the most basic questions of all - does any of this matter? I mean, in the scheme of things, 'things' being our lives and how they fit and work with numerous other lives in a world existing on planet Earth, does anyone really care to see your latest selfie, your most current check-in or a photo of what you just ate for dinner? The answer is no. The answer,my Friends whether you want to accept it or not, is always no.

And yet we account to Facebook and Twitter with somewhat disturbing regularity about where we are and what we are doing, reinforcing the Big Brother ideology that for the most part, we all actively abhor. Funny that.

So I guess the point I'm making is that it's alright to be quiet sometimes. Silence can be golden. Perhaps we should think twice, or even thrice, before blurting out a bunch of empty content. Now that I think about it, maybe I should never have written this post? Or should I? Hmmmm...take care in how you answer folks ;)

Love and respect,
Gleeko X
